Salat is a free prayer companion app. This policy explains what information the app handles and why, in plain language.

Summary

• Salat does not require an account, login, or personal profile.
• Your Quran reading position and Ask Mufti AI chat history are stored only on your device.
• Questions you ask Ask Mufti AI are sent through our server to Google's Gemini API to generate an answer, and are not stored on our servers.
• If app update alerts are on, a notification token for your device is stored on our server so we can tell you when a new version of Salat is available. You can turn this off at any time.
• The app shows ads via Google AdMob to cover running costs. AdMob may collect device identifiers to serve and measure ads.
• If you make the one-time Support Salat purchase, payment is processed entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not require an account. We do not collect your name, email address, or personal profile information to use the app. We do not sell data.

Ask Mufti AI

When you ask a question in Ask Mufti AI, its text and a few recent turns of the conversation are sent through our server, hosted by Cloudflare, to Google's Gemini API to generate a response. We do not store your questions or the AI's answers on our servers. To enforce the daily question limit, our server keeps a one-way hashed form of a random identifier created by the app; it expires after two days and cannot identify you. Conversation history is saved locally on your device and can be deleted in the app.

Advertising

Salat displays ads through Google AdMob to help cover the costs of the app, including the AI service. AdMob may collect device identifiers and technical information to select and measure ads. We do not show ads on the Quran reading screen. You can reset or limit ad tracking through your device settings.

Purchases

Salat offers a single optional one-time Support Salat purchase, which removes ads. All religious features remain free. Payment is handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play; we do not receive or store card details.

Location

With your permission, Salat uses your device location to calculate prayer times and Qibla direction. This is used on your device and is not sent to or stored on our servers.

App Update Notifications

Salat can notify you when a new version is available. When this is on and you have allowed notifications, the app sends our server (hosted by Cloudflare) a push notification token for your device, together with your platform (iOS or Android), the installed app version, and the app language. We use these only to send update notifications in your language to devices running an older version. Notifications are delivered through the Expo push service and Apple Push Notification service or Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. The token does not include your name, email address, or location. You can turn update alerts off in Settings → Notifications; this deletes the token from our server. Tokens are also deleted automatically when we detect that the app has been uninstalled, or after 180 days without the app being opened. Prayer time notifications are created on your device and do not use this service.

Data Stored On Your Device

Your Quran reading position, AI chat history, prayer and adhan settings, and tasbeeh counts stay on your device. You can clear this data using the app or by uninstalling it.

Children's Privacy

Salat does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a new last-updated date.
